Do you often hear your cell phone ringing when it actually isn’t? Do you feel phantom vibrations that make you reach for your phone to check for notifications? If you answered yes to both those questions, you could be suffering from Ringxiety — the auditory illusion of hearing your cell phone ringing or vibrating.

Studies reveal that hearing phantom rings is often an offshoot of attachment anxiety and insecurity about interpersonal relationships. According to a study by the University of Michigan on volunteers, 8 of 10 people reported experiencing false vibrations, while almost half of them said they had actually heard their phone ringing.
