Running or jogging is an integral part of most of our efforts to stay fit or lose weight. While running for fitness is steadily gaining popularity in India, it can give you niggling injuries if not done right. And once you pick up an injury, it can throw your fitness routine out of gear.
A Bengaluru startup has a solution for this — a smart insole for your shoes — that tells you how much pressure you’re putting on your feet, legs, and knees.
It can also predict injuries based on data collected through four tiny sensors embedded within the insole. The data is transmitted to you via their app that’s available on both Android and iOS.
Stridalizer, a play on stride analyser is the brainchild of ReTiSense started by running enthusiast and IIT-ian Anshuman Singh.
The insoles have a USB charging point and one charge typically lasts two-three weeks. Stridalyzer can give audible alerts via the phone app, if you set goals or if you’re putting too much stress.
While the device live-tracks your runs, it can also show you actions replays.
The insole comes in three sizes — small, medium, and large. While insoles retail online and at some select stores for Rs 7,999 a pair, a pod version is also available for around Rs 3,000.
Singh is in talks to tie up with insole makers in the US and shoemakers in Brazil, Canada, and Switzerland.
