Uber unveils new app for its fleet-partners to track their cars and drivers

Cab aggregator Uber has launched an app to ensure that its fleet-partners do not get tricked by their drivers. Uber’s fleet-partners are those who run a fleet of three or more cars that are attached to the company.

The UberFLEET app will use Google Maps to enable the fleet-partners to track their drivers in real time, view their location and drop-off points. When they’re logged into the app, partners can see their fleet on a live map and track fares, trip details, login/logoff timings and incentives earned by the drivers.

This initiative is part of a push by Uber to attract more operators on its platform to take on its Indian competitor Ola cabs, which had launched a similar feature in June this year.

“Uber is at forefront of micro-entrepreneurship opportunity creation in India and UberFleet app is yet another step towards encouraging and support the entrepreneurial ambitions of our fleet partners,” said Apurva Dalal, head of engineering, Uber India.

The US-based taxi-hailing service has committed an investment of $1 billion in India to rattle Ola by attracting drivers with unparalleled incentives and consumers by offering competitive rates.
