Anonymous group Legion on Sunday went on a rampage, hacking into the Twitter account of prominent journalists Barkha Dutt and Ravish Kumar, both from the NDTV group. Earlier through the week, the group hacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and also fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya.
The hackers have also dumped some e-mails of their targets. Twitter has been on fire ever since the hacks. These accounts have millions of followers. Dutt did not respond to a call for comment and text messages.
Ravish Kumar responded to a question from FactorDaily in Hindi:
Which roughly translates to: If we aren’t safe, imagine what will happen to the common man. What can be worse than this. If all this so easy, it will become a game for some people. They will play with people’s security. Government should fix this. Who is challenging us with these acts. The government should understand, if after notes, people stop believing the net, where will the common man go.
Earlier today, FactorDaily had reported that security researchers are probing if hacker group Legion could have broken into the accounts of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and fugitive Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya by exploiting security flaws on hosting service Net4.
Net4 India’s Chief executive officer Jasjit Sawhney has denied that the hacks were carried out by hijacking their servers. Through tweets, the hacker group has said that it will target businessman Lalit Modi next.
