Google has launched its virtual reality headset Daydream View in India.

The VR headset comes with a controller and works with a specific list of Daydream-supported smartphones. Daydream is the virtual reality platform developed by Google and can be used with the Google’s Daydream View VR headset.

The smartphones that support Google Daydream include Google Pixel, Pixel XL, and Moto Z and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 among others. You can view the full list here.

The device can be used in the ‘Daydream’ mode available in Android Nougat and lets users access and view apps with VR support, such as Youtube VR, Google Maps Street View and Google Photos. Third party apps that support Daydream include Netflix VR, CNN VR, NYT VR, and BBC’s The Turning Forest. In January 2017, Google had opened up the Daydream platform to third-party developers to develop apps compatible with Daydream.

Users can view VR content using the headset and navigate the virtual world using the controller, which will help with directional navigation and interaction in the virtual world.

Google launched the Daydream VR platform at the Google I/O developer conference in May 2016 and the first VR headset was released in November 2016.

The Daydream View VR headset is currently retailing on Flipkart for Rs 6,499.
