Passengers using Ola services can now pay for gas and electricity across country through their mobile application. The taxi aggregator has launched a new feature in their mobile app, Ola Money, that will enable users to pay for these utilities by selecting the “Bill Payment” option.
The new update has been introduced in view of the recent demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. The taxi aggregator recently reported a whopping 1,500% increase in wallet recharges after the government withdrew circulation of these notes.
Last week, Ola also set up mobile ATMs in collaboration with two nationalised banks by introducing point-of-sale (PoS) machines in select cabs in Kolkata and Hyderabad. Here, taxis with a bank officer were parked at different locations dispensing cash of Rs 2,000 per card.
Ola operates across 102 cities across India.
